I got this computer a year ago, When i turn on the computer it shows the HP Screen for a brief moment and then it just goes blank. The CD driver works and so does the fan. When I spam CTRL + DLT + ALT, The HP Screen pops up again for a brief moment too. I left it on sleep mode for half an hour before, nothing strange is coming from the fan sound. The computer just stays on until I turn it off. I noticed if I let the screen just sit there for 5 mins or so the loading sound for the welcome page goes off. I can still press stuff on my keyboard & mouse, it'll just make noises for selecting stuff. I'm debating bringing it in for Geek Squad. good idea? I have a HP Touchsmart 310

Sounds like your graphics card to me rather than the monitor.
The easiest thing to do is first check the cables in properly , if it is then try it on another monitor (borrow a friends if you dont have a spare). If it still doesn't work then it must be your graphics card. If it is then just get a new graphics card.
Some graphics cards have fans on the main chip on the card. If the fan stops the chip will get hot and stop working.
If you don't have a separate graphics card , so its built onto your motherboard, then you dont need to change your moptherboard, you just need to fit a graphics card into it.
