Within the last two months my computer has started acting very strange. It suddenly starts going at a snail's pace. I checked Windows Task Manager and according to the graphs under the Performance Tab my second core of my dual core starts working at 100% without stopping when it happens. I don't understand why it randomly started to do this, and can't think of any reason's why.
Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone know why it is doing this, and a way to fix it?
Update:I tried checking the Processes tab and nothing but the System Idle Process was taking up any real CPU.

There is some process running on your machine that's eating up the second core's clock cycles. In Task Manager, while the problem is occurring, go to the 'Processes' tab and look at the 'CPU' column for each running process to see which ones are utilizing your second core (if you don't have a CPU tab you can enable it by going to 'View> Select Columns...'). Keep in mind that your first core is considered core "0" and your second one is core "1". Start killing tasks one by one to determine the culprit by process of elimination.
If that doesn't work, it could possibly be a virus or malware that doesn't show up in Task Manager. In that case run a good anti-virus utility (Avast! is a good free option) as well as a malware removal tool (I suggest Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware).
It may be overheating.... try taking the heat sink off and cleaning the top of the CPU carefully!!!! and then puting new Thermal paste on there :-) if over heating is the case that may do it
(Thermal coolant paste sold at any radio shack)
there was a virus that caused that same symptom scan for virus uninstall or remove from start menu any recent new software or dowmloads use this for easy startup options and disk cleanups its great http://www.ccleaner.com/
