No - they just get carried away. I know Wiccans who "preach" too --
I think a lot of people miss the message of their faith -- If it wasn't for the fact that some come at you like a "used car salesman" -- in your face and critical -- I would be happy to listen to anyone's belief-system -- but, because of some ppls approach - they alienate their listener - so I just "TUNE THEM OUT" - and they've wasted their time, except to feel better about themselves, as if they've done God's work - but that is where they're mistaken - by alienating ppl, their "message" gets ignored - and I don't think that's what "God" wants.
We deserve all things in good measure. Someone else's contempt means that they have heard you.
At the very least.
This is difficult to turn away from a fight.
A challenge unanswered is deemed cowardly, whereas in fact, it is the bravest thing a person can ever do.
The power is not infront of us, nor in us. It comes from above and behind us. We do not expect it, yet we hope for it with all our hearts.
Yesterday, I was walking behind a young man no older than my son, yet tall, with a long stride. Even though I was walking at a very quick pace, I could not keep up with him, and to my perception, he simply appeared to be strolling along without any hurry at all.
fundamentalists deserve contempt for assuming that good non christians all deserve to go to hell. I know a lot of nice Christians but I also know a lot of nice atheists who have helped me out when I needed them.
If anybody believes that a genuinly nice atheists deserves to burn for eternity I believe they are not a very nice person.
I've felt what its like to burn after an arson attempt at work. The flames hit my hand for only a second when I tried to open a door but it was very painful, a bit like grabbing a boiling hot kettle or plunging your hand into boiling water. If you honestly think that good people deserve to go through this for eternity then you are not a nice person.
I'm glad the Christians I know don't feel this way but it saddens me that such fundamentalists do exist and that some of them are on Y!A daily.
So to conclude, no, Christians most certainatley do not deserve contempt, its the fundamentalist who antagonize their own religion through their ignorance.
christianity gets misused much the same way islam does, but those who hold all christians contemptable because of a few are projecting their own intolerance. i was a little surprised by that particular answer, i thought that person was more reasonable.
it just goes to show you, there are intolerant fundies in any belief system.
No, I can't say "every single Christian that has, does and will exist deserves contempt". Of course I can't say that. There are particular Christians who deserve contempt, just like there are particular (any other kind of person)s who deserve contempt.
The vast majority of them, absolutely not. I only find contemptible those who use their religion to justify bigotry, try to pass laws based on their religious beliefs, and try to get their creation story taught to my children in their science classes - where it clearly does not belong.

Not in general, no.
There are a few that I do hold in contempt, but that's not because they're Christians...
I surely hope not at least as a whole.
Peace Be With You,
