If you shoot outdoors in daylight, no, but if you plan on shooting indoors, evening or other low-light situations, the Diana will need a flash.
One thing to remember about film cameras in general, is that they don't do as well as their digital counterparts in low light. Under the same conditions, where a digital camera will do fine indoors or in early evening, the film camera won't be able to produce an image without using a flash.

They are yet to make a camera that can shoot in the dark without adding light. Photography is capturing LIGHT. If there isn't enough light you need to add it, hence the need for flash.
Depending on the ISO you are using? You will probably need flash inside.
