That seems a bit much but as a parent, they should be checking in not reading everything but checking occasionally. I respect my children and know they were raised to do the right thing in all situations - however, while they were teens living at home the computer was in the living room and yes, I sometimes checked through their accounts and my space to ensure they weren't getting into things they ought not. I was not their friend - friends hang out and act the fool with you - now that they are adults we can be friends and they are still very open with me - I no longer have to snoop! :)

For the 13 yr old - your parents have a responsibility to pay attention to what you are doing - that is no violation of your "right" to privacy

We used to have our computer down in the kitchen area, and my dad would always stand over my shoulder and try to read everything! It was so annoying.
