Hello everyone. I bought my first double needle for my sewing machine but when I tried sewing with it the stitches would not come out right if at all. I have tried all sorts of adjustments but I could not get it to work. Does this mean I need a special type of presser foot to make the double needle work?
My machine is an old Singer Zig-Zag Model 466. Does anyone knows what type of presser foot I would need or what adjustments I need to make to the machine to make the double needle work? I found that some machines are not able to work with double needles. Does anyone know if this kind of Singer machine will? Thanks in advance :)

According to my research it was one of the earliest twin needle compatible machines -so a regular zig zag foot should work -at least accordiong to the manual I found. Also it says to use the zig zag throat plate. Be sure that both threads are seated in tension knob. You might need to fine tune the tension -it can be a bit "tricky" according to a forum post I found. that says "be sure the threads is both (sic) in the tension knob and fine tune the tension. it can be tricky" and nothing more.
Standard zigzag foot should work. Is this one with the bobbin case to the side of the presser foot? I've never tried a double needle on one of those, and that may be the issue. Otherwise, try straight stitch, and putting some tissue paper over the fabric. You may need to loosen the tension on the bobbin case -- it's a good idea to have a spare case for playing with tension on, so you can keep the properly adjusted one for regular sewing.
Other than that, can you explain more about how your stitches came out? (Photos of the top and bottom of the fabric would be really helpful!).
(PS: the specialty presser feet mentioned above in another answer are for an industrial machine that
accepts two regular needles, not the double needle of home sewing.)
There are special double needle presser foots out there:

I usually just use the one for a zig zag stitch:
