My grandmother claimed to be a witch. She claimed I also had it (I'm adopted). Strange things have always happened the way I wanted them to, but I believe in facts so I chalk it up to coincidence. I ask because I like to know details before forming my opinion.
So, to the people who do believe or have these natural powers, I'd love to hear your point of view. I'd also like to hear non believers.
I'm not interested in the point of view of those who buy witchcraft books and force it.

There are the only kind of real witches I have ever met. Despite what some here will tell you, you don't
have to be blood related to a witch to be one. Anyone can be a Wiccan, but witches are born that way. It's what's inside you. This may be why you were adopted by a family with a witch in it. You are most fortunate in this. Be thankful for it. There are no witchcraft books out there, with exception to a few printed a long time ago, prior to the New Age movement. Most of what's out there today calling itself witchcraft is Wicca, which is not witchcraft.
Most of these people (Wiccans) will tell you that witchcraft is not a religion, despite the fact that in some cultures it is a documented fact that it is. They also fail to explain that witchcraft predates ALL organized religions, bar none. My suggestion is that you research it yourself, but do not bother with opinionated new age sites. Go to anthropology sites, museum sites, archaeological and university sites involved with the research of witchcraft. Most new agers do not bother to do this, which is why so many are in the dark about the reality concerning it, as well as the documented facts. As for myself, my studies began in 1974 and there's still tons for me to sift through and discover. I have been taught by two crones early on, have been taught Wicca as well as ceremonial magic. My thoughts on this, though they are only my opinion, are founded a lot of practice, study and discovery.
Yes I believe in natural forces that can be generated from within yourself. I have never seen a Wiccan spell work, but I have been amazed at some brilliant witchcraft. If your grandmother wants to teach you, learn all she can teach you, and protect it. That which is secret is powerful. If you go around exploiting it to impress others or selling it to others, it will no longer serve you - so respect what you have, and yourself.
Good luck.
Natural as opposed to what-- synthetic?
Witchcraft isn't a power, it's a skill. Some people simply have more of a natural talent than others but ultimately it's a practice that requires knowledge and mental discipline and honing your ability.
Being a natural Witch would be like saying you're a natural artist. Put it this way:
No one is born an artist from birth; it's a choice anyone can make (or not make). Anyone can learn art and improve no matter how bad they are at it early on. Some kids might have a talent for it from a young age, it seems to come easy to them, but that doesn't make them a natural artist; it just means they're talented. If they want to be an artist, they would have to put that natural talent to use and still would need to learn and grow in their ability. Or they could choose not to be an artist.
You could replace 'artist' with 'Witch' and 'art' with 'Witchcraft' in that paragraph; it's the same thing.
Spell craft (another name for witchcraft) is a learned skill, not something you are born into. While it is true that some people have a natural ability for spellwork, much as someone can naturally be good at anything else that is a skill like carpentry, cooking, gardening, etc.; I don't believe because are 'born' witches.
In the bible a witch is a woman who gets messages from devil spirits. Why it's always a woman is not explained. In cartoons a witch is always a fat bumbling clown with a sparkly stick in her hand. In real life there are women who claim to be witches but they give conflicting information about what that means and how to become one. And there are women who act like witches, not friendly enough to collect any information at all about them.
So which ones are you talking about?
yes, natural witches exist. but skills can be learned too. Just because one gains skill by reading and practicing doesn't mean it's forced. There are natural basketball players too and some who are good because they practice. Everyone is born with intuition and an ability to interact with subtle energy. Even a natural witch can let their abilities wither and dry up.
When I was little, I always wanted to be a witch. But now that I'm an adult, I know it's not possible. But I've always been the same way, stuff has always gone my way most of the time. I've even knew about 20 seconds into the future once. Not sure what it was, but definitely strange.
No. Just because Granny was a Witch doesn't mean she knew everything from birth, and passed that knowledge on to you. If you want to practice Witchcraft, just like everything else in life, you need to study. You need to read, learn and understand.
And Witches don't have "powers". They never did. It was only claimed they had "powers" to make them seem more scary than they were. Witches were just people with alternative knowledge that others didn't understand.
No of course not, no one has magical powers naturally or any other way. More like people that are brought up being told silly ideas learn to believe in them too.
Nonsense.
Jesus Christ is the truth, the way, and the life! Jesus loves you. Get a king James bible and believe. Read Romans chapter 5 and 8 and 10. Read John chapter 11 and 3 and 1. Read 1 John chapter 4. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."- the Word of God.
