I don't think it does, at this point. To me, classic rock is anywhere between the 1960's to the 1980's. Later, maybe 90's rock may be considered classic rock.
Of course, I also wouldn't consider a car built in the 1990's as a classic car just yet, even though cars built in the early 1990's are 20 years old.
Classic Rock was a phrase coined by commercial radio stations in the 80s to differentiate big stadium rock bands from the new wave and pop music of the time. Now it just seems to mean, rock music that has become old. and so much has happened in rock and pop music that, yes, Virginia, 90s music is now old. It isn't any less valid, but has become old. And for those of you who say you feel sorry for people who were of that era, it will only be 10 - 20 years before you too fall in that category, so I actually feel sorry for you.
i does not evaluate them classic the two. Love em the two, yet DMB didnt even launch an album till at last ninety 4 and Pearl Jam around a similar time i think. I accept as true with you that 60's and 70's, and in keeping with hazard some eighty's music is classic rock.
**** man i hope not, i'm not that old yet. i'd say only mostly 70's is classic rock, 60's before is oldies, and 80's is just 80's....... YOU KNOW... that synth pop metal shyte

i consider 60's to early 70's to qualify but even 80's is too close for me. Actually i would say if it within 10 years of mtv its not classic
80s isnt even classic rock . its just 80s rock , or usually hair bands .
i classify 60s & 70s as classic rock ... or rock n roll , depends on what tha band is .
i consider it 60s and 70s
I really think the true classic rock is 60's everything else is showmanship
