I'm a 15 yr old female and the doctor said it was best to get a colonoscopy to see what's going on. I also have to get a camera down my throat. I understand I will be under anesthetic, but what does the after math feel like?

The prep sucks, and you'll be gassy afterwards since they use air to blow up your intestines to see better, so just stay home the day after so you don't fart really loud and embarrass yourself somewhere lol. You might be a little sore in your throat and guts but nothing horrible. It will be gone by the next day.
Does A Colonoscopy Hurt
The colonoscopy is painless during and afterward. I have had it done, and before you even have the procedure, you usually receive a sedative (mine was Versed, but it could also be Valium), and a pain-killer (such as Fentanyl). On the table, you will most likely be put to sleep-- especially if you are getting the full colonoscopy rather than a sigmoid colonoscopy-- using Propofol.
The colonoscopy preparation sucks because you defecate tons due to the stool softeners and laxatives you have to take; but if you stay hydrated, that, too, is nothing to worry about.
The endoscopy procedure is usually done at the same time as the colonoscopy is done. You will be given a spray anesthetic on your throat before you are put to sleep. That, too, is painless afterwards, though you may have a mild scratchy throat from the camera going down your throat.
Best of luck!
A little info I think should be considered about this drug Versed ( Midazolam ) that is used for Sedation for many medical procedures..Sedation and General Anesthesia are not the same and quite a few people being given Sedation
think they are being given General Anesthesia!
There is simply no good or valid reason to ever purposely induce amnesia during a medical procedure. It is only a recent development in medical thinking that amnesia is somehow a "benefit" to the patient. On occasion some
some patients will remember a bad experience. Forgetting does not mean it did not happen!!
I feel that if people were aware of the effects of this drug they would Opt For Another Drug!
Erasing someones memory of what was done to them is wrong!!
In fact, many people who use Versed for " IV Sedation,Conscious Sedation" Twilight Sedation, during a procedure are Awake For The Entire Procedure but remember nothing, often Believing They Were "Out" the whole time.
Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like setting broken bones, colonoscopies, endoscopies, dental procedures like extractions, conscious sedation, twilight sleep, so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort.HOWEVER THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THOSE SENSATIONS WILL NOT BE EXPERIENCED!!!!
Here is a note from a Dentist Who uses Versed
I've used Versed 1000+ times during oral surgery procedures and I've never had a complaint. It's a miracle drug because it is safe and it causes you to not remember an unpleasant experience. My answer to him is isn't it better to have not experienced the pain than to have forgot it. No wonder you have had no complaints they have no memory of the procedure.....
I feel that giving a drug for amnesia is cruel I would not want it done to me!
A strange development in medical thinking that it's okay for a patient to have
pain as long as they don't remember it and think they slept thru the procedure..

Sedation/Forgetter Drugs
It is just like a common surgery. They put you under general anesthesia so that you don't remember what happens. You might feel a little bit sore, and they recommend that you're' careful after tests like colonoscopies, but you will be fine.
When you have a colonoscopy it does not hurt at all. The bad part is the prep before the colonscopy, all you are doing is sitting on the toilet.
Because of my age (I was 22 I think) they put me under for it and when I came out it was done. I don't recommend taking an exam while high on whatever they put you under with though I got a 0. The worst part is before it when they make you clear your bowels with an enema. Not fun. I bought the wrong type, apparently I was supposed to take the internal one you swallow. It wasn't painful at all but I hated the fasting and enema.
A very mild sore throat at the most. Perhaps brief hoarseness. Worst part of the colonoscopy is the prep.
It doesn't hurt, the worst part of the colonoscopy is the prep.
Yes, I had 3 and I don't know how gays like that stuff.
