Does number transfer with a SIM transfer?
I have a Samsung a707, the LCD cracked after one month. Fortunately for me I have an identical one. If I take the SIM card out of the bad one and put it in the other one will the number transfer as well without me having to go out to the store and having to deal with At&T people?

Yes. The SIM card is what identifies you to your service provider, so if you put it in a different phone, your service 'travels' to that phone. Note though that some phones can be locked to certain service providers and will not work if you insert a SIM from a different provider. (ie Verizon SIM won't work in AT&T phone and vice versa if the phones are SIM-locked).
