Does pregnancy feed narcissism (sometimes not always)?

I am not trying to offend anyone, this is an honest question from a psychological point of view. I respect people who put care into the delivery of their child.

However, I know a few women who are egotistical and were that way before becoming pregnant. However, when pregnant, they seem to have an excuse for attention-seeking, to the point where it seems like its more about feeding their ego than their baby.

I am talking about women who find every oppertunity to bring up their pregnancy in a conversation. They post statuses on facebook about how they are doing and how special they feel. Some also get very demanding about special treatment. They say things like "motherhood is the most heroic act someone can do." One woman I know started a conversation with me about religion, once she found out I disagreed with her, she got mad at me for stressing her out while pregnant, even though I disagreed in a respectful way, and she was the one who brought it up. Another woman I know insisted that it was unfair that she got a speeding ticket from a police officer even after she told him that she was pregnant. Many get really demanding with the childs father.

Yes, I do beleive that pregnant women do deserve some special treatment, but isnt it possible that SOME (not all) overuse it as a way to get attention? Is their any link between pregnancy addiction and narcissism?
