ok so if he does ,,then have u ever figurd out wtf they think is so good about it??my dad listens to that crap all the time and imo its just like organ playing all these chords all the time and they sing about stuff like there stoned out of their gord. but some of the album covers are awesome . like this one by E&L&P is just someladys head with her eyes closed but she looks like shes an egiption made of metal or something..
anyway, what is it with this music???

Just because your small brain can't comprehend what the hell goes down in prog rock and must stick with teeny bopper music, doesn't mean it's bad.
I think you have to know something about music to really appreciate progressive rock. Because if you don't, then you won't understand what they're trying to do.
Basically, progressive rock tried to "progress" rock out of just being a verse-chorus-verse-chorus-mid 8-verse-chorus in 4/4 time, using three chords (I, IV, V), about 3 or 4 minutes long, and always about love or sex, etc.
Most popular rock songs follow that formula. Progressive rockers wanted to make rock more than that. Long songs, different structures, different time signatures, different instruments, different lyrics. It was often very demanding stuff, to play and sometimes to listen to. They came up with some really amazing stuff. And like all experimentation, some things were not so successful. That was actually the exciting part about it all: risk at trying something new, and maybe even failing, or only a few people getting it. So for people who want or wanted more out of their music, progressive rock was for them.
For people who are satisfied with the popular stuff, then progressive rock will be a waste of time.
i admire innovative rock and metallic. this is my well known type of music to take heed to. maximum of folk hate it i think of using fact of ways "pretentious" and "pompous" the bands can get. I get excitement from for the variety. it may sound like notably plenty something the band making it needs with out any set rules. Like a guy or woman who does not pay attention to innovative rock does no longer pay attention Rush and crimson Floyd and assume, "guy those men are the two innovative rock". greater ideal yet interior the greater metallic territory you are able to take 2 prog metallic bands, Queensryche and Opeth. Do they sound something alike? No. yet they are the two innovative metallic. you're able to desire to no longer say a similar approximately maximum different genres, even even with the indisputable fact that i admire maximum of those different genres.
Emerson,Lake and palmer, this is the name of the band . Its progressive rock.And the subjects they wrote about evr had any thing to do with drugs. I was never a big fan of these guys.But you turn me on <Which is one of there songs ,Is about being anything you wanna be, if you pursue it.
