it seems that i have had quite a few dreams that have come true. I'm not on about the ones where you become a milionaire or a super s*x-stud, but the commonplace ones, ones where you are at work and a particular conversation happens, or you are doing something in the dream and a week or so later you do it in real life. Am i alone in this or does it happen to anybody else?

It used to happen to my nan. This is not a joke. I'll give you an example. My nan had a dream that outside her childrens school the big trees going to fall and people are going to get injured. My nan never sent my mum to school that day. The tree actually fell and there were minor injures.
I will try to answer your questions one by one.
"Am I alone in this or does it happen to anybody else?"--
It probably happens to everybody at some time or another, but many people do not pay attention to their dreams, or do not attempt to remember them, very few share them, and so on.
Dreams that come true are explainable in science--
1. If one dreams about a future event, what are the chances of this event really happening? For sure more than zero. Thus dreams about probable future events, do happen in reality.
2. Time is relative.
3. Dreams incubate in our subconsciousness which operates outside the confines of time and space.
Thus prophetic dreams must happen to everyone, with a greater or lesser regularity, and with a greater or lesser accuracy. The reason for prohibition of prophecy now may stem from: a lack of specialized training, a lack of practice, a lack of purity of the channels, and an overblown ego of even the best channels refusing to accept that no human- being is 100% accurate, 100% of the time.
I hope it helps.
I experience the same kind of thing. I used to tell my girlfriend who gave me strange looks. Then I had a dream about an airplane crash. I told her my dream and explained in detail what I saw. A few weeks later a plane crashed in canada and the picture on the news was exactly what I had described. This really freaked her out. Its a gift, try and write down what you see. You'll be amazed what you recall.
I have 'premonition' dreams all the time. Could be small things that later happen in my life or events that i later see on the news. Don't really understand why though! Try keeping a dream journal!
Yes it does happen to others. My life decisions have been made because of dreams, it has kept me safe and alive.
Most of mine have been warning dreams, most when I was a child and still active today, some are as you say a quick chat about something and nothing.
something like this used to happen to me in elementary school. I would have had a dream about just a boring event like walking down the hallway, and then the next day I would find myself in the same hallway thinking, have I done this before?
I get this as well, its like "de ja vu" but more realistic and you seem to be able to mouth along to conversations or remember someone elses story even though they've never told it before. It's really weird but I kind of get used to it. It happens once or twice a month.
The living entity's desiring is like dreaming of a golden mountain. A person knows what a mountain is, and he knows also what gold is. Out of his desire only, he dreams of a golden mountain, and when the dream is over he sees something else in his presence. He finds in his awakened state that there is neither gold nor a mountain, and what to speak of a golden mountain.

Sometimes in a dream we see something never experienced or heard of in this life, but all these incidents have been experienced at different times, in different places and in different conditions. Srimad Bhagavatam 4.29.67

In the previous verse it was explained that in dreams we see that which was experienced during the day. But why is it that we sometimes in our dreams see what we have never heard of or seen at any time during this life? Here it is stated that even though such events may not be experienced in this life, they were experienced in previous lives. According to time and circumstance, they combine so that in dreams we see something wonderful that we have never experienced. For instance, we may see an ocean on the peak of a mountain. Or we may see that the ocean has dried up. These are simply combinations of different experiences in time and space. Sometimes we may see a golden mountain, and this is due to our having experienced gold and mountains separately. In the dream, under illusion, we combine these separate factors. In this way we are able to see golden mountains, or stars during the day. The conclusion is that these are all mental concoctions, although they have actually been experienced in different circumstances. They have simply combined together in a dream. This fact is further explained in the following verse.

So this explains Jonathan's dream;
Dreamt of eating a giant marshmallow & when I woke up was covered in feathers having eaten half my pillow!
I used to always have dreams about simpsons episodes...
and then, the next episode I saw would be the exact same one I saw in the dream...
what a useful talent, ey...either that or effective avertising.
it happens to me occasionally too. its very weird. my dreams are distorted, but some very accurate parts of it relate to my next day in reality. from music, to conversations and events. i put it down to being like a radio, and were simply picking up on everything (including past, present and future)
