Someone told me today that she got a false positive OPK from taking Provera. Has that happened to any of you? Or have you heard of that happening?
OPKs detect LH and Provera produces Progesterone; so how can you get a false + OPK from Progesterone?
I have taken Provera 3 times already, and I've never had any + OPKs; all it did was make my boobs sore and it cause my temp to spike for the 10 days I was taking it.
My doctor put me on Provera again on Monday 10/8. When my temp didn't spike the next morning (which it usually does) I decided to take an OPK that night. It was clearly positive! I had been having EWCM for a couple days, and my temp was already dipping before I took the Provera, so all signs were pointing towards this + OPK being real.
I didn't take my next dose of Provera on Tuesday night, nor have I taken it since then; so i've only taken 1 dose and that was on Monday. That shouldn't have an effect on my temps now, right?

You should not be taking Provera until after ovulation. Progesterone will interfere with ovulation. Progesterone tells your body that you shouldn't ovulate. So never take provera until you are sure that you have already ovulated!
But you are right, the OPK reads LH, not progesterone, so there should be no reason why it would register + due to the provera.
Next cycle, wait until your temperature has been up for a couple of days after ovulation and then start provera, just to make sure that ovulation has passed.
The provera probably shouldn't have an effect on your temps right now, if they are still elevated it is probably due to your body already producing progesterone after ovulation.
