ok so there's a new high school starting up that i'm going to be a part of and it's a charter school. One of the teachers is an ex-olympian and would love to teach an equestrian team. we're not talking iea. this would be a team so that we could keep our horses at the school and train after school and travel as a school to shows and events. are there any other high schools that do this? if so what ones? and does anyone know any kinda requirements or anything that would need to be met to have an equestrian team? We have the facilites to house the horses but not a spot to practice..we're hoping that could be built later, this will be the first years and we would love to get it started this year so we could really work at it next year.

Team competitions for riders aren't common. In fact, the only one I know of (other than the Olymipcs, World Equestrian Games, and such) is the Team de Ville hosted by Lake Erie College each spring. So you won't have many opportunities to compete as a team unless you join IEA. To be a team at Team de Ville, you simply send in your entries together and pick a team name.
