Well, when I was running my show, I was on a rotation. That is, I'd get to work and introduce myself and my segment, then play a few songs, at :15 th minute of my show, I'd do a weather report, :30 a Public Service Announcement and at :45 an advertisement.
But the music went in a rotation that was given to me. So like I'd have to pick something from a hard rock section if I saw HR. We'd have a whole rack of cd's I could choose from. Then like soft rock would come up on my list and I'd choose from a rack of cds that qualified for that.
I don't know how most shows do it, but if it's a rotation, that's pretty much it.
