My 4 year old is crazy about squirrels. Her Grandfather made her a squirrel feeder that we have attached to our deck in the backyard. We put corn and peanuts on it. It took about a month, but finally we have squirrels coming a few times a day. Problem is, now the crows have found the feeder. They are here all day. Normally an ear of corn and a handful of peanuts would last a week or so. Now it lasts about 20 minutes. The crows are eating everything, and the squirrels get nothing. I put a scarecrow out to scare the crows away, but the squirrels are apparently scared of it also because they aren't coming any more. Is there anything I can do to get rid of the crows while keeping the squirrels? Thanks.

About the only way you'll get crows to behave is threaten them. A bb gun shot at them wouldn't hurt them much. A shot gun fired in their direction aimed not to kill could prove to be effective. Lady fingers and string might work too. Unless you can scare the bejesus out of them you are going to have to encase your feeder in some kind of fencing that lets the squirres in but keeps the crows out. 2" x 4" welded wire fence might do the trick. Good Luck
Well, Try putting an umbrella like top on it. This way, crows cannot fly from the sky, to the bird feeder. Some people kill crows and hang them..Perhaps buying a fake crow and hanging it can work, but crows do eat corpses, and may try eating the dead crow, but I believe it's unlikely they will eat their own species.
You could try making a better squirrel feeder,or buying one like this :

Or make the squirrel feeder so that the squirrels can enter, but the crows can't.
I wouldn't threat the birds , like Big Peter said. Crows are known to have a good memory, and can even hold a grudge. They even harassed, and dived on a few scientists, while they were studying this.
crows can be vary annoying. the way that we got the crows to stay out of our yard is to get a song bird feeder and a crow feeder and put the song bird feeder in our yard and than we asked our neighbors if we could put the crow feeder in their yard and they said we could. so now they have big black crows in their yard and we have beautiful songbirds in ours.
