Unfortunately, you will have to find a camcorder that has an analog video in mode. The only one I know of is the Canon Vixia HV-40. That's the direct route. Another, much more tiresome route is to use MPEG STreamclip to convert your DVD footage to a format like .dv or .mov, and then use a program like iMovie to import the clip, which would then be exported to the camcorder via Firewire. DVDs use an MPEG format called .vob, and these files cannot be directly read by camcorders. On a PC, you'll have to do this with MPEG Streamclip and then an editor such as Adobe Premiere, or if you're not made of money, then Windows Movie Maker MIGHT work.
I advise you Aiseesoft DVD Ripper. It would effectively rip DVD to MP4, H.264, AVI, MP3, WMV, WMA, FLV, MKV, MPEG-one million, MPEG-two, 3GP, 3GPP, VOB, DivX, Mov, RM, RMVB, M4A, AAC, WAV, and many others. with amazing rapid DVD ripping pace and nice snapshot and sound first-rate. It can also edit the DVD films, akin to trim a video clip, crop the film, merge a couple of titles or chapters into one dossier and many others. Hope can aid you!
