My husband's acquaintance works at a "dog breeder." My husband went to visit it today, and it is a flat-out, disgusting puppy mill!!! The original owner died, and now her sons have taken over. The dogs NEVER get to go outside. Each day they get their poop and pee sprayed out of their little cage. They breed them every time the females go into heat. Who do we report this to? We would love to see this place get closed down. It's awful what they are doing to these dogs. Any info would help! (The puppy mill is located in the St. Louis, MO area.)
Update:I am not sure who is giving all the thumbs down! Trolls.
Thanks for everybody's advice. I will call the ASPCA tomorrow!

Well, there was a big bust at a puppy mill in my town. It was all over the news. It took them a long time to finally get enough evidence to get a search warrant. They ended up seizing 500 dogs. It was a very tragic thing. On their website they said that they take care of the dogs from day one until they leave their ranch, and you should have heard of all the things they found there that was totally disgusting. There was one section of the place that had healthy "looking" puppies and then there was a section that was fenced off that no one was allowed to go back there. It turns out there was dead dogs, dog skeletons, and sickly dogs back there. They didn't want to ruin their reputation! What a joke. They got busted and got exactly what they deserved!!!!!!
You need to call the aspca and your local sheriffs department (if it is out of the city limits) or the police department (if it is inside the city limits) as soon as you can. You need to get things moving. Good luck and I hope they get shut down!!
Wow! I just posted this one minute ago and already have two thumbs down. Someone is busy today!
I know this sucks, but nothing they're doing (from what I can see) is technically illegal. It is legal to keep your dog in a wire cage, as long as it has adequate food, water, shelter, and medical care. These idiots are HUGE backyard breeders and may even be a puppy mill (hard to tell from a website) but unfortunately there's nothing illegal about what they're doing. You could call the humane society and have them check in anyway though, which is what I would do. There may be stuff hidden behind the scenes... although it'll be easy to hide without a warrant. The website says they're state licensed too... that's a bad sign for you.
Dogs are considered livestock so calling the ASPCA or Animal Control may have no effect if the place is licensed but call the Dept. of Agriculture if none of your other calls get no result and that should solve the problem.
Call the ASPCA or the local non-emergency police number. If they don't do anything call the local news station. They can put pictures or video on the news to try to get the police to take action. Best of luck.
Well I live close to St. Louis & I can tell you that if the Mill is licensed you are wasting your time, since that is all they will care about around here, trust me, I have a disgusting mill down the road from me, the sad part is she does a lot of business, well anyways she has been reported several times by calling animal control, needless to say, she is still up & running her disgusting mill!!
Good Luck though!
Missouri is notorious for puppy mills, sadly. Contact the state SPCA and the USDA immediately and file reports. Both organizations will inspect the facility and one or both of them should be able to get the animals seized and the owners shut down and fined. If the dogs are in bad enough shape they may even face criminal charges.
maybe you can work at that place and you can take care of those animals or you could call your local spca and tell them what is going on in that pet store or you can go there and let the puppies out to get some air and you can take them for a walk

This is the link that will get you to the page on contacting the Humane Society of Missouri. They are specialized in operating in MO, so would probably be the best option. From what I've read, they do a very good job of shutting down puppy mills.
Good job on being willing to shut down animal abuse!
oh my goodness, that is absolutely revolting! i live in StL too, and my dog came from the humane society after a puppy mill raid. you could try calling the humane society at this number: (314) 647-8800
if you know where the place is, i would just tell them what you know about it and they'll try to help.
i hope i helped, and good luck!
