how do u fix a scratched cd???
i have a cd nd it got scratched. is there a way to fix it?? and if there is plz tell me.
Update:also,its a video game not a regular cd. will toothpaste still work????
Update 3:for those of u who recommend toothpaste, how do u take the toothpaste off after ur done cleaning the cd with it????

Colgate toothpaste. Seriously it works. Put a little bit on a cloth and wipe it on the Cd in straight lines. Don't go around the CD you will mess it up.
You can get c.d repair kits at most video shops or c.d stores.
There are also places that you can go where they use a machine to scrape off a thin layer of plastic on the reflective side of the c.d to make it like new again.
I've also heard that if you wrap the c.d in plastic wrap and put it into the freezer it fixes... I've heard that one from a few good sources, but I've never tried it myself.
If the side of the c.d with the picture on it is scratched/chipped, you haven't got a hope of fixing it, as that's where the data for the c.d is contained... it totally sucks when that side gets scratched.
1. If it's just dirt and not a scratch, you can clean it with dish-soap and dry it with a non-abrasive cloth.
2. Get a Disc Doctor or Disc Cleaning set. They have them for $10 at Wal-Mart. It's a little device with a sandpaper wheel that'll sand down the surface of the disc until the scratch is gone. This reduces sound quality after a point, though.
Advice: keep back-ups of all your music on your comp.
Most video rental outlets now have a CD cleaning service by which they buff away a microscopic layer of the plastic on your CD. This will get rid of the scratch.
Please check your CD which side is scratch..
i am assuming you are saying the shining side where the laser will read is scratch then you could possibly repair it by applying car polishing liquid or powder.. that will remove the scratch..
but if the data side (the one with the piture or the opposite side) is scratched then it could not be repaired..
Someone told me to pour some Coke on it and wipe off with a cloth. Also, they told me to put it in the toilet and flush. It's too big to go down the drain. The Coke worked for me once.
