My Mom uses dog toothpaste (purchased from a petstore) and a regular people toothbrush to brush her dogs teeth. The paste is flavored so he doesn't mind it at all.
Don't use people toothpaste, it will cause the dog to foam at the mouth. Get dog toothpaste if you want to use paste, you don't have to, and just brush them. My husky is 9 weeks, and I have started brushing her teeth so she will be used to it as she gets older.
with the dogs tooth brush give tooth brush to the dog he starts bitting on it and that how he cleans his teeth also they have gloves u put on it has dog toothpaste on it and u put your fingers in his mouth and he starts to chew on it also u can give your dog a bone by him biting the bone helps his teeth get stong n clean hope this helped
dont use peope toothpaste! im a vet nurse. if there is a lot of tartar build up, brushing will not remove it. you need to get your vet to do a dental especially if its a small breed like terriers because they are prone to having dental problems. a dental is a routine procedure that will not take long.

I give my dogs raw beef ribs every so often to help keep their teeth clean.
use kid (edible) or doggy tooth paste...
and use a baby size tooth brush
and go to town...brush like you'd brush a baby...gently and repeatedly until the job is done...
