My dog had a back injury, a slipped disc infection type thing, and now her back legs are really weak and will soon be paralysed. She walks stumbling along and sometimes falls over when her back legs gives in.
She seems really sad and not herself lately and its very noticeable. How do you cheer up a dog? Very heartbreaking seeing her struggle as she used to be very hyper and full of energy
Update:Sisyphus: She is not in pain. But when her back legs give way, she will most likely be put down as it isnt humane to let a dog live like that. But for now...

To be honest...shouldn't this dog be on bedrest/ crate rest? Dog should not be walking around. The dog needs time to heal BEFORE he becomes paralyzed. Carry out to pottty and help him stand so he can do it. Keep this dog in an elongated laundry basket that you can carry around from room to room with you. Keep hi on bedrest....what did the vet tell you to do for rehabilitation????????
add: all td's on everyones advice. I guess you didn't hear what you wanted to hear. This dog needs to eb kept resting. Sounds like you want the dog to be paralyzed so you can put it down. Care for this little dog and his problem or contact a rescue and give him to them.
Try taking her to a vet to see what can be done to ease her pain..
A slipped disc infection type thing is rather serious..
If the dog has a back issue..the vet should have placed her on crate rest..again, the dog is not depressed..shes in pain.
Just give her lots of attention, belly rubs, hugs, and bones to chew on. Maybe some new toys. Keep her mind busy. Bored dogs often get sad. Espesically if they used to be active and now they are sick.
DO NOT EUTHANIZE HER!!!! you can get one of those doggy wheel chair things and she can be up and around again in no time!!! Yes take her on car rides if she enjoys them and give her lots of treats and maybe get a kong those things are wonderful!!!
chicken. Dogs love chicken. Mental stimulation, find some games you can play with her despite her condition. Take her to the lake, dogs love boats almost as much as trucks. Maybe more.
have to ask vet for health
training, exercise and attention
Ask vet. Love on her and make her feel special.
You DON'T!!!!!!!!!!
That's INJURED,not "sad"!
Sane adults don't force animals to linger & suffer!
EUTHANIZE.
