To me, it doesn't matter if the name is popular, unpopular or just in the middle. It is a name. If you like it you can use it, doesn't really matter, as long as the parents of the child like it, then go with it....not really a big deal.
Well, I love the names Emily and Emma. When I was pregnant with my second child 8 years ago - my son, his name would have been Emily if he was a girl. But, now it has become SO popular I probably wouldn't use it if I ever have another girl. But, I do really love the names.
Jack and Daniel are both nice names, although I wouldn't use either of them. They are not quite as common in younger kids where I live. There are somes names I am truly sick of, such as: Madison, Kaitlin, Michael and Christopher. Those are VERY common names in my children's schools.
I think it really all depends on where you live. For example: I have heard some people on here say they are sick of the name Charlotte because it has become so popular. I happen to love the name Charlotte and I don't know any little girls with this name. So, I think in a way, it all depends on what part of the world you live in on how a name is perceived.
I personally do not like popular names. I think each child deserves to have an individuality and when you become an Emily F. it doesn't give you that. I prefer more unique names, but nothing made up or too out there. Something that your child isn't going to be called by their first name and last initial for the school years b/c there are at least 6 other kids in each of their classes with the same name. However, I do believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions so if someone loves popular and classic names then they shouldn't be judged for using them.
I dont think its tht important, i do like the names but i wouldn't name my kids the most popular names because this also translates as 'most common' and there will be lots of other kids in school with the same name at the same time.
Fashions come and go, a good friend of mine is called Olivia, she is 36, when she was a child it was a really uncommon name in UK and always complained that she could never get anything with her name printed on it!!!! Now I think it has been in the top 10 for at least the past 10 years and she still always turns around when there is a mother screaming at her young Olivia in the shop!
I do agree that popular names are popular for a reason, they are the most liked, most simple names in most cases. I do not want my child to have a name that is too out there, like Genevieve (sorry if YOU like that name, that is not MY type of name), but I do not want them to be numbered either.
I try really hard to stay away from them, we have a really common last name, actually I looked it up and it is the 5th most common last name, so any name in the top 20 with the 5th most common last name is more likely to be used.
There are several names that I think are adorable in the top twenty names, but I do not want my child to be Emma #5 in her class or Emma Brown #3. We love the name Chloe, but it is #10. So I'm not sure I will use it. I am trying to find a way to possibly use it for a middle name.
I think that the majority of my favorite names are in the top 100 names in the US or at least close to it. I just try to stay out of the top 20.
They are popular for a reason. They are good. My brother in law wanted to name his some something unique like Neo, Morpheous, or Zero. Luckily we talked him out of it and the kids name is Aiden, the number one name. We named our kid Jake because we have a long, crazy Polish last name. For a very small minority, the weird names work but for the masses and for your own child's sake, the popular, time tested names are the best bet. Use the middle name for the quirkiness.
If i like the call, i might use it inspite of that is acceptance, yet whilst i'm figuring out on names for the sake of figuring out on names, i could be greater apt to be certain on one that is not unparalleled, yet no longer large known the two. one among my daughter's names is Sara Anne, or perhaps however Anne is lowering in acceptance, Sara is heard somewhat often even if it would not hassle me with the aid of fact i like it. My son's call is Benjamin, that's exceptionally person-friendly, yet i like the call inspite of that.
i like names that are a lil different because ur baby is not the same as 50 ppl that turn around when u call the name, they are special, an i think they deserve something different!
an with that in mind i dont like names too strange...

I love love LOVE popular names
Why? because there is a REASON they are popular.. They are popular because they are fantastic names.
Now can a popular name be overdone? Yes to the point that it would actually make me not want to use it.
However it will resurface generations down when it is less common and become a unique name once again
I like classy names. A name that doesn't embarrass your child. The ones you mention are fine names. Personally I like Alexandria or Joseph.
personally i hate them!
to me they are names that get lost in the crowd
someone yells
'emily' 'Jack' ect.. an 50 ppl turn around
i like names that are a lil different because ur baby is not the same as 50 ppl that turn around when u call the name, they are special, an i think they deserve something different!
