Nick is right on. There is a tractor and it pulls the plow behind it. The plow has large spades lined up on the back that turn the dirt over (due to the angle they are at) and it creates furrows- a kind of mount ditch, mound ditch pattern. You don't plant right after you plow. You have to disk before you plant.

The plowshare is pulled through the ground and the moldboard pushed the earth to the side, creating a furrow you can plant stuff in.
