how does USDA RD housing assistance program work?
I would also like to know how long does it take? my landlord said it will take 6 months to 1 year. I live in a rual area. it also says 60 days after the lease does that sound right.

These vouchers are for people who lived in a USDA property when it was foreclosed on. Your current landlord would not be involved with you obtaining the voucher at all. They can start right away when the foreclosure happens are you receive the voucher for 12 months.
