Depo is the Fort Knox of commercial birth control. Its likely to shut down your periods altogether while you're on it and its also likely if on it for too long to cause you to have problems getting pregnant in the future.
Its what I consider to be the best of worst of birth controls and I could never advocate that anyone wanting to be pregnant in the future to be on it.
I was on it for a VERY short period after having my 2nd (less than a year) and it took me 22 months to become pregnant with my 3rd after I discontinued getting it.
This is after only 2 cycles for my first and 1 cycle of trying with my 2nd. and 2 cycles with my 4th.

Did your doctor not explain to you that most women don't get periods while on depo? They should have.
Take a test if you're worried about it, but I wouldn't worry. You can't really screw depo up unless you don't go in and get your shot on time.
