its not caused by brain damage, it's a disorder. i don't think its a visual problem because the problem lies with the message that is relayed to the brain. the eyes see it correctly but the brain reads it wrong.
Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty which mainly affects the development of literacy and language related skills. Nobody
really knows exactly what dyslexia is or what causes it. It is known that dyslexia tends to be described in terms of its symptoms or
alternatively in terms of what it is not. For example 'Dyslexia is
not due to low intelligence or low IQ' or 'Dyslexia is not a disease, it has no cure'
dyslexia is 'Intelligent, bright or even gifted individuals, that for no obvious reason, struggle to learn through the medium of written or spoken language'.
It is thought to be present at birth and to be lifelong in its effects. It is often hereditary.
It has nothing to do due to brain damage and many highly intelligent, creative and successful people are/were dyslexic e.g. Thomas Edison. Albert Einstein. Leonardo da Vinci. John Lennon, Winston Churchill, George Washington. Richard Branson, Henry Ford. Agatha Christie. Robin Williams, Danny Glover and Whoopi Goldberg just to name a few.
It's often genetic. There can be visual problems, for example, some people see the page as too bright: try www.irlen.com for information on that, and to switch the colors of the page to see how it looks.
