Update:yes I realize it causes some birth defects, so as a result I check a HPT every week. Have to be safe. :)

It does not prevent pregnancy...it will just cause you to shed your endometrial lining to have a period. You should not take it if you get pregnant b/c it can cause birth defect so make sure you do a test b/f each round of it.
My MD gave it to me to induce cycles to hopefully get my body back to norm.
I'm currently taking Provera 10 mg and Provera won't prevent pregnancy but they say to be careful because in some cases provera has cause some defects but nothing is fully established to prove this.
