i have 4 small turtles. 2 are like 2 years older than the other two but they are about the same size. recently, i switched them into a huge tank and put them together and i don't know how to feed them. The bigger ones eat it fast so they ate the smaller ones portion. i feed them once a day, 4 pellets each time. should i keep feeding them until they're full? or feed them multiple times a day?

Turtles in the wild have to work for their food, chase fish and forage for aquatic plants, so they often don't get much at a time and don't get to eat everyday. Their digestion is not built for that and they don't always know when they're full--they're opportunistic eaters. So you definitely should not feed them more. You should take them out in a shallow bowl of water and feed each one separately, especially the two smaller ones. Babies 2 inches long or less should eat once a day 6 days a week. As they grow you should slowly work that down until its twice a week or every third day as adults.
I like to always leave greens and chunks of carrots or veggies floating in their tanks 6 days a week, swapping out every other day. These are high nutrition and challenging to eat, but they're low calorie and low protein so they're not likely to get fat from eating too much. I also like to buy feeder goldfish in bulk (like three dozen at least) and dump them in there. A few will disappear quickly but most of them will learn how to avoid the turtles for awhile and that provides the turtles with exercise and mental stimulation, and when they do eat one whole live food is the best thing they could eat as it contains the bones (for calcium) and liver (for vitamin A and D and others).
Since turtles don't eat everyday, they need a 24 hour period to clear their gut out and get things back in order. So one day a week I remove all food (except any live fish) and don't feed.
In the wild turtles eat everything they can find because often they could go days without finding real food. So naturally they eat lots for those times. Also look up kind of turtle you have and the percentages of other food such as meat- veg- fruit. My red ear loves strawberries but only gets 2 a week. Disadvantage of a full protein diet is the turtles grow to fast and the fat is not good for them like gold fish etc.. The bottom link shows the proper diet of a red ear turtle. I feed mine once a day and feed my turtles one at a time in a feeding basket. It a big plastic basket with a floater I keep outside in summer and change the water for each turtle. I big on clean water. And i feed them take one out rinse well feed another etc. So I know they all eating. I give about a once a day to my big red ear he's about 8" in diameter. My snapping turtle I bought off craigslist was almost dead when i got it. Over fed no sunlight- big gash in it's tail and all kinds of problems because it was infected. After cutting out dead skin- and pulling out dead tissue. and iodine and rubbing alcohol treatments the tail finally healed. Skin turning a bright white to it's natural dark. So I give him four worms or a 1/5 slice of bologna and some in hotdogs cooked etc.. And he's recovering very well. And getting his natural body shape back.
Not that that's important. But you feed according to your turtles condition. I do hope this helps and wish you my best dave
i don't comprehend what sort of turtles you have yet...years in the past somebody I knew picked up an jap slider turtle beside a river. The turtle had a pair of two - 3" shell. He took it residing house, tossed it in his aquarium, and the element ate fish nutrition pellets (it would consume the flakes too). He feed it probable a pair of cases an afternoon. He stored it for a pair of years while the element began to get slightly huge for the aquarium. in case you should discover a petstore that offered turtle nutrition, it would probable have guidelines on the packaging.
usually I would feed turtles twice a day (morning and evening), and feed them until they're full. In the wild, turtles ill eat until they are full, and they can usually gauge when to stop. They only thing is bring it up gradually for the first week or so, so they don't get sick from gouging.
You can feed once every couple of days but feed until they all lose interest in food. If you want, you can leave bait fishes in the tank for snacking.
