We just got a 10 month old female boxer 2 nights ago. She eats about a cup of food once a day, which doesnt seem enough for her size. She is almost 65lbs. She plays when we want to play and is calm when we want to relax but I wonder if she needs more exercise? Or if she is depressed? Still being a pup, shouldnt she need more food and be more hyper? Don't get me wrong, she is a good dog and raised well but we are just concerned parents! Thanks in advance for answers with experience.

She is probably still adjusting to her new surroundings, and new people. Give her a few more days. If things don't improve have her vet checked. Maybe feed her some yummy treats like some scrambled eggs, or cottage cheese. These are good for her and might help her eat a little more.
No, she's not depressed. She has only been in your house for a couple days! She's not sure how to act, what the rules are and if you are the pack leader.
It is important at this stage to establish yourself as the pack leader. No bullying, just firm leadership. That will make her more relaxed and give her a feeling of security. Dog's immediately look to see who the pack leader is.
Walks are extremely important as well and go hand in hand with pack leadership.Take her out often. Let her smell and hear the new surroundings. Dog's gather information first with their nose, then their hears, then their eyes. So walks are extremely important at this point.
Even if you have a 1000 miles of land, if you don't take your dog out beyond it's living area, it can become fearful of the outside world.
Learn how to properly walk the dog (you are always in front) and how to establish yourself as the pack leader in a kind humane way. Dog's look for leadership first, then love. Dog's know that all the love in the world doesn't mean they are safe.
Good luck!

Yes she needs more food. Too little food will make her lethargic. I give my two greyhound who weigh 64 lbs. 1-1/2 cups of food twice a day. Boxer are large chested dogs and she also needs a raised food bowl so she doesn't get bloat.
She will seem depressed for a few days because her life totally changed when she came to your house. Give her some time and lots of love and, of course, MORE FOOD!!
If you give her more food her energy level will increase and then she'll need more exercise.
HI--
Some puppies get nervous and she doenst know what to do with herself. SHe may feel too nervous to eat. Our lab got like this and I put 2 drops of lavender oil in her bedding and 2
by the door she used to come in and out..by the next day or so she was fine///
if you are tense about ehr not eating that adds to it..so maybe the lavender essential oil will help everyone
Well.. my dog eats a cup of food a day and she's 10 pounds..
Feed her as much as it is guided on the back for a day
You should be feeding her 2 times a day.
Of course she does!
Walk her at least once a day and let her run in your yard
she could be because of the new home,as long as shes eating and playing etc give it a couple more days,my dog is 40lbs and only eats 1 1/2 cups of food in the am per day,she could also not like her food
Trying changing dog foods and mix the dry food with wet food. keeping switching food until you find something he really likes, make sure the food dry and canned you are getting is for puppies. Make sure puppy gets plenty of exersise and fresh air. Give him LOTS of tender love and care!!! Get some bones and fun toys for him, this will all work, puppy will be fine :)
Most boxers are excited, but she might be just adjusting to her new home. Give her about a week, if she isn't adjusted then, then spend more time with her for about another and give her lots of love and praise and treatS!
I don't think that it is depressed. So don't worry, maybe try switching her food, because she may not like the type of food you are giving her.
did he have parents before you got him? he may miss them alot.
