MamaBas, petfinder.com is just a website for shelters and rescues to list their available adoptions. You still have to show up in person to fill out the application and stuff. I don't think breeders use it.
It's a great site. I work with several Siberian rescues and a Cairn Terrier rescue - they all list available dogs at Pet Finder. I adopted a wonderful Akita from there and my Cairn Terrier and had them 12 years.
Pet Harbor is the other big adoption listing site but I like Pet Finder better.
However if you are looking for a young purebred pup, they seldom get into adoption sites. There are young mixed breed pups and sometimes older purebreds.
There are no good sites I know of for finding good breeders or purebred pups. It takes research. Beware of ANY websites that allow you to just put in your credit card number to purchase or adopt an animal - no reputable rescue or breeder will sell or adopt out a pup or dog without screening the buyer for a suitable match.
It seems like a great site to adopt from however you should be able to search in Google etc. what pet you want and the region you are living in or available to get to. PetFinder.com is a great site to learn about keeping a pet and what items you need for it to be happy.
Petfinder.com is a sute where rescues post animals up for adoption. We got our Sammy through Almost Home Canine Rescue in SD that put their dogs up for adoption on it. They will show you which animals are up for adoption near you. It is NOT a breeder/puppy site.
My two rabbits are very friendly. They are good with my younger cousins and one is 2. The one loves giving kisses. Mine spend a lot of time in there cages and can be left for a few hours a lone. I do take them out for awhile though. They do like to drink and eat lots of Timothy hay. They'll also need some bunny pellets. My bunnies are both Rex's. There cages start to smell if u don't clean it often enough.
It's a good site, but it still relies on the honesty of organisations and rescuers listing on it,as well as member feedback. You still need to check out the people offering pets for yourself.
I'd avoid these general dog/puppy sale websites. Good breeders don't need to advertise their puppies on such websites. They are okay to locate a breeder, if you can't find one via the Breed Club (much better!) but you always have to see mum with her puppies, where they are being reared, meet the breeders and see their adult stock.
Never buy from an online website without doing lots of homework. And if you want to adopt from a Shelter, go to your local Shelter.
