I have a Kraco Car Stereo in my 1972 dodge dart. At first it wouldn't play my cassettes at all, I would get scratching sounds and sort. I got a cassette head cleaner in the mail today and tried cleaning it, thinking that was my problem, I took a closer look at my display when i put in my Cassette, I used a Blue Oyster Cult, in like mint condition, and a cassette for iPod hookup. I then saw that the stereo was playing it for a second or two then automatically rewinds it then plays and loops like that. I would like to know how to fix it so i can listen to my iPod and more importantly my cassettes, please describe in detail or post a link that explains in detail. Thanks :)
Update:I would not like to install a new one. I'm trying to keep the original car stereo in it. Although I'm not quite sure if it is, but again i do because Im the 3rd owner.

to my knowledge kraco stopped making car stereos in the early 90's. kraco was also one of the worst brands in car audio history. so, you have a 20+ year old flea market car stereo. the best fix is to throw it in the trash and get a new stereo.
new 2 knob stereos are CHEAP!

EDIT; that is NOT the factory stereo! that is a cheap kmart stereo from the late 80's or early 90's.

Kraco Car Stereo
I have had a similar problem before. The problem is a short in your wiring. This is more likely if this is an aftermarket stereo. Some people prefer to connect the ignition wire and the power wire so that the stereo can continue to run even if the car is shut off, but this lets your ignition circuit drain your battery. Some generic wiring harnesses do something similar, also leading to a low drain short. You should get a wiring diagram for your car and the radio, and make sure that your power and ground connections are properly done. Make sure that you don't combine multiple ground or power connections, although they do the same thing they may route through different systems.
