My son has a few mosquito bites that he keeps scratching and they look horrible. They are more like open sores now than bites because he scratched them so bad. I have put neosporin on them the past few days. Any other suggestions?
Update:Also, he isn't getting the bites while he sleeps! My two older sons play soccer and we are outside at night and I couldn't find my mosquito repellant the other night!

Neosporin is really good. What I usually do is put neosporin or vaseline and cover it with a bandaid until the itching stops for a while because i will scratch it! lol...after the medicine settles and the itching stops, i just take off the bandaid. I understand that he's 2 but the bandaid thing might help a bit. Make sure you keep his skin moisterized with lotion, because the scabs get worse if the skin is dry. With moisterized skin, the scab markings will go away faster and dont hesitate to put lotion ontop of the scab either...it helps and doest harm it! Oh and on a different note, thanks for the points on your previous question! Rylan Cole is adorable though! I love it! lol
Good Luck =D
He may be having an allergic reaction to the insect bites. That has been known to happen. He'll need to see his peditrician to determine the right course of care.
Be careful about giving him OTC medicine until you have talked to the doctor. In the meantime, you can give him an oatmeal bath to reduce the itchiness. Keep any that have turned into sores covered with Band-Aids, and then put gloves on him at night so he can't scratch in his sleep.
Also, try using something like Benatine ointment on the spots. It has anti-itch properties.
You need to get him to stop scratching as much as you can. Hydrocordizone cream, or triple antibiotic cream will help. Then put a band aid over them. I live in Missouri right by the Mississippi, and I have had like 20+ bites at the same time lol. Next time spray him with some bug replant. Hope this helped.
That's crazy..I feel for the poor little guy... Do you have a mosquito net that can cover him from over head of his bed...it'll stop any other mosquitos from bitting him and before he goes to be use bug repellent spray..or have a fan or ac present where he sleeps...I know the seasons are changing and it's crazy
Neosporin should help. You should also tell him that he really needs to at least TRY not to scratch them so much.
Definitely the benadryl... It'll help the itching.
Give him a dose of benadryl.. this will help witht he itching... also you may want to try hydrocordesone... it works better than neopsorine since it has an itch medicine in it.. good luck..
