I have a black tetra and I just noticed tonight he is real pale. Like all of his fins are white. Not spots like ick, just like his entire complextion has turned more transparent. Same with his body; we feed him red food so I cant tell if that is what i see inside him or what. He's always been partially see-through in his stomach section, but its more large & defined now. You can still see his two stripes, yet they are grey & faded. What is this, and is it treatable or not harmful, or what?
PS- We have had him for around a year, so it isn't like we purchased a sick fish or something
BQ- If you cant do this I don't care its ok any help is APPRECIATED, but if this is heard of, please include a picture so I can compare. If you cant its ok, but if you can, shoot(:

I know what you mean I have 6 Black neon Tetras and 6 Neon tetras. Nothing to worry about. It's defensive tactics-at night, bright, reflective colours are easy for predators to spot. They fade so they are harder to see and can escape easily. Black neon Tetras and cardinals are not the only fish whose colours fade at night-guppies and other bright fish fade or turn grey/black too. Obviously, in your tank there are no predators, but it's a natural thing that happens to all fish.
Same for Black Skirt Tetras if thats what fish you have. You really should have your Black Tetra in a group of 6+. He/She will be happier and not stressed out.
Well we meet again That's my name and you're tetra is stressed probably from some sort of sickness you should look up NTD and you might be able to find a cure for it because that's probably what he has. and I f you have any other questions just ask I would be happy to help [email protected]
Could be water temperature, I have Columbian tetras and in warmer water their color is amazing but colder temps they get lighter and a bit "see through" as my cousin says.
