You need to make sure you have a driver installed that will read your equipment. I think drivers end with .ill or something similar. If there is software that came with the device, install it again and make sure it installs all parts. If there is no software to install, go to the Vivitar website and see if they offer the driver or software needed to run this. Many times the company will offer these free on their website and once you select which product you have you can see what all you need to use it on your computer.

I'm not sure if this will help but that happened to me one time and...idiot me...realized I had to turn the camera on in order for the computer to read it. It's a simple mistake but one that may not be obvious at first, especially in the days of so many things capable of doing an "auto-run."
