that depends on how old your grandmother is,technology and stringent USDA laws are now in place.there use to be a time when most people butchered their own hogs.and refrigerators and freezers weren't as reliable as they are now.if that was once true it's clearly outdated .

I haven't heard that about pork, but I've heard that you should eat shellfish in a month that has no r. Shellfish as in Clams, mussels, etc. After living in a fishing community for many years, it is true that usually the fishing grounds are closed during the summer when there are no r's in the month name.

I have never heard that one before. Pork is fine to cook and eat any time of the year. It used to be that oysters were only aviialable in months ending in "R", but that's no longer true.

ive never heard of that... thats really weird since all of the major holidays are in months ending with r... and we all eat some kind of pork during the holidays..
