I've had this game for many years, first on the N64 and now on the GC. On the N64 there was the infamous Deku Nut upgrade glitch, in which you had to visit the secret Deku grotto with the Mask of Truth before going through the advancement-in-time sequence or else it would be unattainable later on.
But it's been a while since I've played the GC version, and I'm having difficulty. I thought they fixed it, but although upgrade #1 works fine (the one you buy from the Deku scrub in the secret hole under the rock in the Lost Woods), wearing the Mask of Truth doesn't get me the 2nd upgrade. I seem to recall that they fixed it...perhaps not by fixing the Mask of Truth bit at all, but by ditching it and making it obtainable in an entirely different way...?
I've been all over the internet, and I can't get a straight answer. Some say it was never fixed at all, in any version. Some say it was fixed in later versions on the N64. Some say it was never fixed on cartridge, but was fixed for the GC.
How do I get the second damned Deku Nut upgrade on Ocarina of Time for the Gamecube?
Please be sure of your answer - I've had enough wrong answers from all over the internet.

Yes, one Deku Nut upgrade is permanently missable in ALL versions of Ocarina of Time. It's missable if you tried to get it after you draw the Master Sword. You can obtain the upgrade before this; but after you draw the sword, you can never get the upgrade.

Sorry about your loss. I hoped that answered your question, though.
Just know that that early versions of the 64 were the only ones capable of doing these glitches.
Any after v1.2 and gamecube ( both from collectors and masterquest ) are all fixed. The only way to have it is ether a first version of the n64, or buying it on the Wii market place thing.
