I would like to buy a parakeet, and I'm looking for a good cage. I only want one bird, so I don't want to go crazy and spend too much money on a cage when there are other cheaper, but still good, cages to buy. Also, what are some good names for the bird? Male or female?

i have my 2 parakeets in a small cage but it is a little bit bigger than that one,but mine are also only going to be in there for a couple more months and then i am getting a flight cage- http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display...
i would recommend a cage of at least 16x16x16 but bigger is better.but if your doing like im doing then yes that is fine- i would get this cage- http://www.petco.com/product/114152/PETCO-Designer... it is big enough for one and gives it plenty of space to fly and move around and is a reasonable price for something that size.i would get a male because my female does not like to be handled and she bites hard, but my male is so sweet and has not bit me and he actually lets me take him out the cage.and it is good to get one parakeet to start off with or to have forever by itself even though they like company;it will most likely become tame a little easier.i like to name animals after places, cities, towns and even landmarks of where they are originally found in the wild and for parakeets that is Australia,so i would say maybe-(male names)-
.taz (Tasmania,Australia)
.Tasman (Tasman sea)
.timor (sea surrounding the north part of Australia)
.arafura (sea surrounding the north part of Australia)
.Darwin (city in Australia)
.bendigo (city in Australia)
.barossa (barossa valley)
.auslan (what Australians call sign language)
.Aussie (Australians)
.abor (Aborigines the original Australians)
but that is up to you that's just what i like to do.
