Piano Tuning
A 3470 Hz tuning fork is sounded at the same time that a note on a piano is struck. You hear 9 beats/s. You tighten the string slightly and now hear 16 beats/s. What is the frequency of the vibrating piano string now after the tighten ing?

3470+16 = 3486
(frequency increases on "tightening" => "add" 16 to the "base" freq

3470 + 16 = 3486
My question asked me what the frequency was if it was LOOSENED and I heard 16 beats. I subtracted 16 from the frequency and got it right. Good luck with the rest of your questions. :]
