I just found out that the placenta is directly over my cervix. What are the chances it will move up? Doctor didn't seem to confident that it would move up and has already talking about c-section.
Also, can you tell me a little about how dangerous it is. They want to monitor me every 4 weeks and I heard something about if it bleeds even a little it can cause you to lose the baby. I'm so worried. Thanks in advance!

I had placenta previa with my first child...Unfortunately the dr. didn't figure out how serious it was until it was too late. At 32 weeks my placenta hemmoraged while I was laying on my couch. By the time I reached the hospital I lost 50% of the blood in my body. Fortunately my son only spent two weeks in NICU. Now 10 yrs. later he is perfect. They thought I wouldn't be able to have more kids. Well I figure it was Gods will and I ended up with three more, total of 4 kids now, I am very blessed. My advise to you is to not get discouraged, everyone is different. Listen closely to the doctor and do not be afraid to ask questions... Take it easy and do minimal housework. No heavy lifting and no vacuming, if your not feeling good, lay down and rest. More than likely you'll be on bedrest, but remember now is the time to take care of you and the baby. Stay postitive and remember things are different with each pregnacy and pregnant person. Forgot to say I had previa with 2 more of my children and had no complications, just bed rest... Good luck to you and my prayers are with you....
I'm am sorry to say but with placenta previa your ONLY choice is a C-section. If the placenta is still covering the cervix when your ready to deliver and you tried to deliver naturally the placenta would rupture or tear likely killing you and the baby. They will probably do an ultrasound every visit to monitor it. As long as your not having any bleeding all should be fine. Bleeding could be nothing serious or it could be serious but you don't want to take the chance. If you start bleeding even a little bit call your Dr and go straight to the emergency room.
Good luck and Congrats on the little one.
I had placenta previa when I was around 18 weeks, and within 4 weeks (my next growth scan), it had moved up considerably. I'm not sure why your doctor doesn't think that it will "move up", because your uterus still has a lot of growing to do and it could very easily "migrate" as they call it. It seems odd that your doctor thinks this way-- my doctor was certain that it indeed would migrate, which it did.
A placenta previa, if it doesn't fix itself, is a fairly serious condition. You will more than likely be put on bedrest and be restricted from any sexual arousement or hip movement. A placenta previa can abruptly start to bleed and therefore put you in the hospital in something that is typically called an "anti-partum" wing, where they closely monitor you to keep you pregnant. They will make sure you keep a close eye on any bleeding or lack of baby movements, and if anything bothers you, they will encourage you to go to the hospital.
I'm sure you'll be fine, and I hope that your placenta does migrate for you.
Take care.
when i was about 20 weeks my placenta was completely over my cervix. now im at 33 weeks and it has moved up to the side, so i wont be needing a c-section after all. there's still plenty of time for you.
and a little bleeding doesnt always mean your going to lose the baby. i had a few occurances, and my baby is just fine =)
hth!
Im 15 weeks and my placenta is completely covering my cevix. My doctors are not very concerned about it they say it will most likley move out of the way in time for labor, they said they wont worry abotu it unless it is still there closer to the end of my pregnancy.
I have already had 3 occurances of bleeding, an dmy baby doing just fine. I wouldnt worry about it too much yet.
