Okay so ive been to my doctor twice. I am almost 18 weeks and she said that my blood pressure has been way to high both times. They want me to do a 24 hour urine test to see if its preeclampsia or just a regular blood pressure problem i had previous to pregnancy.
i had asked how they can determine off of 2 times, which is awkward and she told me its way to high for there not to be anything wrong, but it just seems weird to me.
What are the chances that its just a fluke that its been high??
And what are my risks to my baby with me having high blood pressure?
Update:No not on any medication as this is the first time any doctor has taken a concern for my blood pressure, although in my previous pregnancy i was hospitalized for really high blood pressure near the end of pregnancy.

I don't know if it's just a fluke (I also have high blood pressure) but I do know having high blood pressure while pregnant can cause uterine growth restriction and possible amniotic fluid loss in the late third trimester. This happened to my sister who also developed high blood pressure during pregnancy, though she didn't have pre-eclampsia. I think blood pressure pills can also cause uterine growth restriction. I'm on lebetalol, but haven't needed it thus far in my pregnancy because my blood pressure went down initially. At my last appt it was high, so we're going to see how it is at my appt next week and I may need to start taking it again.
