Received a strange email today, it was listed as coming from my brother but the from address was a random account ([email protected]) and the reply to email was an even more random yahoo account ([email protected]).
The email contained my name "hello xyz" then a link to http://maichanet.com/annoyeddresscolinhill/ I haven't clicked it but a quick google search just turned up some asian site. I asked my brother and he has no connection to the email address. Was my email hacked? I have a very rare last name so seems highly unlikely that it was a total coincidence.

Delete it do not answer it.
What you describe is easy for spammers to do; it's simple to fake the "from" name and account and the reply-to address can be changed easily too.
So except for the fact that it had your brother's name on it, I would say this was just plain old spam that you should just ignore. They might have found his name someplace online and just used it to seem more legit, this is pretty common.
However, because it does have *your* brother's name on it, it seems too much of a coincidence that the random name they would use would turn out to be your brother.
That makes me think there is a good chance that your brother's email was hacked and is now spamming everyone in his address book.
To be safe, he should change the password on his email and make sure his computer has up to date anti-virus software scanning it.
NO! I onced obtained 4 of those in at some point! Fortunately, Sixty Minutes had just finished a program on how these guys make it appear so actual, even a surgeon in California misplaced like 40,000 before it used to be over. Don't even send them a reply. It connects them to your info!!!
Sounds like spam - spammers are smart and use names to get you to open mail. If the email came from your brothers account, then yes, he was most likely hacked.
No
It's just trying to get you to click on stuff
Just delete it.
