I know ot stands for basic input output system, I know the things you can do in it, but is there anythkng else it does for your computer? Also where is it stored?
Basically it runs the components on the motherboard and it associates all hardware with Windows. It is stored on a separate chip on the motherboard. It is "not" a windows component and is not, therefor, a part of function of the operating system. For more info, just Google it.
