it barely works when radio is turned down but when it is turned up the power cuts off to the amp and the power light turns off to. So what is wrong is it the amp or a fuse?
A bad connection can cause that. It could be a bad ground. It could be a lack of enough voltage due to a bad battery, alternator or a bad connection. It could be the power cable isn't thick enough or of poor quality.
It could be that the load is too low for the amplifier (a 1 ohm load for an amp that isn't stable at 1 ohm).

Or, it could just be a defective unit.
what kind of amp is it? you probably got it wired to where it cant handle it.
