The Hurricanes won hockey's Stanley Cup two years ago and are 4-1-1 two weeks into the season with a fit goalie and the deepest set of centers, so how could Yahoo's lead NHL writer include no 'Canes in his top 50 players?

The Canes are pretty dang tough so far. Staal started on fire and they don't even need Ward to play lights out because their D has been pretty consistent.
While Carolina and the Sens have been clicking on all cylinders, we're only 10 days into the season so it's a touch early to hand out any awards.
You gotta figure the Pens and Rangers are going to find their way into the Eastern conference conversation, not to mention Philly, Buff and others.
i will ditto Parrot Shark. lot of Carolina, Wake, and Duke followers would in no way even dream of donning crimson in this state- no longer that shade crimson besides, till the hurricanes. that' become NC State's shade.... I stay in Greensboro, and We care approximately hockey down right here. Charlotte has the checkers (ECHL associate of the Rangers) and we've an idiotic city council and coliseum administration that may not enable us to have a hockey team returned (we used to have minor league hockey, however the worldwide needed AHL and deals fell by using... they have been attempting to sell develop season tickets to gauge activity, yet they are attempting to can charge finished value for each seat, no longer season value ticket low fee in any respect... generally in case you get season tix it expenses much less consistent with activity, yet no longer once you are the penny pinching assholes on the Greensboro Coliseum... definite, Greensboro Cares. Charlotte cares. And the Hurricanes offered out fairly some video games this 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, inspite of being off their activity for a number of the great season. And definite, I comprehend them. And NO, Brind'Amour does no longer do something illegally. Leaning over the face off zone is legal, as long as your skates do no longer' flow too some distance in. you're in basic terms jealous that we've a returned to returned selkie winner who could make the hall while he retires. Sorry for the rant....
Two years ago was 2 years ago, and there was no guarantee they would have beaten Buffalo if the Sabres weren't decimated by injuries and using defensemen #7, 8, 9 and 10 on their depth chart.
Last year they missed the playoffs in a point-grab division, as the Southeast was down.
Also, Ward is inconsistent at times, so he needs to prove himself again.
Also, 10 days into the season is too early do decide who is good and who isn't.
two main reasons..
1. They had one good year, 2004, otherwise they suck, always have sucked and always will suck.
2. Carolina is not a hockey state, the millisecond the canes season ends, the word hockey doesn't come into their vocabulary or minds until the season starts again. they are not real hockey fans, really just a bunch of bandwagoners
sorry if this offends anyone...
I think the Canes are great, and I'm in the west. Even if you think they're not getting respect now I wouldn't put a lot of weight on the fact that the Yahoo NHL writer isn't paying attention right now. You watch - That will change. :)
Well just because they dont have a high class player doesnt mean they get no respect...Two years was two years ago not now. There a good team with solid players definitly close to the top 50 but nobody amazing like a crosby or ovechkin type player.
They get a lot of respect... but missing the playoffs last year certainly didn't help. I don't expect them to be out this year, but the Senators and Rangers look to be the class of the East.
How was Eric Staal not in the top 15?
