I have done many brake jobs, this one was on a 2001 Blazer. I replaced pads all the way around and rotors in the front. I don't think I would need to bleed them since I didn't break into the system. My wife, who is the more frequent driver, says the brakes are more spongy and less responsive. Any ideas?
Update:What adjustments might there be for disc brakes, anyway???

sometimes when you dont remove masterclyinder cap it can cause air that is still in the system to get traped in the masterclyinder. somtimes new rotors are not the same width as the last onesand the computer system is trying to adjust.

Why do my brakes feel spongy?

When you first do a bake jpb it takes a 100 or so miles for the pads and rotors to break in. As far as the spoginess, you should have your brake fluid replaced every 3 years or so as it is hydroscopic (it absorbs water). Even though you didnt open the system you may have pushed small amounts of water back into the sytem where it can not be compressed when the pedal is pushed. I would recomend that you have your brake fluid flushed and bled, and if you have abs (you do) and dont know how to properly bleed the sytem take it to a garage as you need a special tool to cyle the abs to bleed it properly. Hope this helps.
Your brake master Cylinder is probably going, producing less pressure in the lines. Not to Mention that Blazer have spongy brakes to begin with. Just hope your lines aren't rusting yet.
Brakes Soft
these people are forgetting 1 thing.when you put on new pads, they will feel spongy, until they harden up to the rotors.mine does that, everytime i change the pads, until they harden up.just keep driving it,and they will be better, when they ge harden up to the rotors.i bet they stnk too, dont they?,they will for a while, but once they get set to the rotors, you should have good firm brakes.
Did you check the brake fluid? I had a similar problem with my car, where relatively new brakes felt soft. I topped off the fluid, and they've been fine ever since.
I guess there is air in the system, has the sysyem been worked on lately? If not you may have a leak letting air in, check your fluid level.
I'm thinking either you got air in the line, or you just gotta adjust them
Tell your wife to STFU and deal with it? what the hell does spongy mean anyways?
