I bought a lap top from a friend recently, and he had all sorts of torrented games and programs on it. It was able to play games on high graphics such as ARMA 2 , Skyrim, Oblivion, ect. But we decided to format on it so I can put all my games and programs on it legitimetly with CD's.
But for some reason, my graphics card is'nt working. I have installed multiple games and none of them will play due to something wrong with the graphics card.
Any help or ideas of what to do will be apreciated, thanks!
Update:Thanks for the reply! My graphics card is the ATI Radeon HD 5870.

avert Alienware like the plague. they're in reality dell with a distinct badge and performance all varieties of reliability issues. in case you need to have one in all those, the Asus G73 is more desirable sturdy and has a more desirable suitable graphics card (it really is needed for gaming). although you've a operating laptop or computer computer with all the upload-ons and could be swifter for much less money.
It may be solved by updating the driver (or installing them if necesary), to do so you can google it, if you don't know whitch model is it you can press the start button + pause and hardware manager or something like that in the left side, then a window with all you hardware must pop up, and look for your graphic card on it. (you can try right click and update or unstall[don't woory, it automaticaly reinstall it]).
Go to the Nvidia or AMD website and download the appropriate driver for your card. Make sure you know exactly what card you have and the download/install the driver. If that doesn't work, the card may be fried, which would either need to RMA it (if it's withing the warranty period) or repair (which will cost money, lots of money).
You need to load the correct chipset drivers. Look at your documentation or model number then get the full chipset drivers from the manufacturers support website.
The G73 came with various graphics so I cant link you to the drivers without knowing exactly which model /tag you have,
