Baby Boy's Umbilical Cord?
My baby boy is 11 days old today. His umbilical cord came off today. Isn't this a little soon?? I always thought it took atleast 2 weeks. Anyway, does this mean he can have his first bath now? Is there anything special I need to do to it now? Should I still clean around it with alcohol wipes to make sure it keeps from getting infected still? When I do give him his first bath, can his belly button be submerged in water now? Or should I still try to keep it a bit dry at first?

I gave all my babies baths right from the beginning and they all came off at 10 days. My first it was recommended that alcohol be used, and with my last 2 they said nope, makes no difference. You can give him a bath if you want, just make sure its dry after and the diaper isn't rubbing on it for a couple more days.
They say 10-14 days for it to come off, so your right in there! My daughter's came off @ 12 days or so. He can have his 1st bath now! I was told that it's now new practice not to use the alcohol, so I didn't use any. I just gave Andelyn her 1st real bath today, I have to admit I was kinda scared! Of course, I gave her sponge baths until then.
11 days is fine for it to fall off, my sons fell off on his 10th day but my daughter was almost 2 weeks. It's just when they are ready.
It was ok to bath him before it fell off aslong as you dried it well and keep it clean, so its perfectly ok now. Just keep an eye on it and keep it dry. clean it as it needs it, theres no need to if it looks clean and dry without any problems.
No it is not too soon.Some fall off right away and others take a few weeks.He may have his bath there are no special instructions,as long as it doesn't look like it is irritated it should be fine.Good luck and congrats!Enjoy your little guy!
Looks like a penis to me and appears to be attached just at the right spot on the pelvis. Maybe you can get another sonogram in a few more weeks to make sure but i would say it is a boy.
my daughters fell off around that time. its ok that it fell off. now the stump is gone you can give him tub baths. still clean it out with alcohol and make sure to completely dry it.
You don't need to do any more care and you can give him a bath now. It's normal for it to come off between 1-2wks.
