I work in a chemist and just received my new holiday form for the following year. I am entitled to 28 days holiday every year with bank/public hols included.
Having checked my sheet he has included ten bank/public hols for the following year which leave me only with 18. I went on a ledgit website which says there are only 8 which has always been the case in the past.
Looking on my sheet the boss has included easter sunday and christmas day as well although on the website these were substituted for the monday which I also have included on my holiday hours. Both Easter Sunday and Xmas day fall on days which I do not normally work yet I am being forced to take them when I would much rather use the days when I choose too.
Can my employer do this? Hope someone can help with this

He is trying to con you out of 2 days holiday. The minimum you are entitled to is 28 days which can include 8 Bank Holidays in England and Wales (nine in Scotland and ten in Northern Ireland).

You have a standard 28 days holiday which in clue the 8 Bank Holidays...... There are times in years when the state (Royal Family) if an extra Bank Holiday in a year as a one off and this is only done and ordered by the Queen and then is stated for all companies to follow and this is coming up soon with an additional bank holiday weekend.
Your company can't take for 10 Bank holidays as this dose not count and there is noting in law that shows a company can take 10 days from you. Note that if you don't work on a bank holiday you still will have to take it as holiday, but if you have to work due to short staff then this bank holiday that you work is then placed in luie which means you can take it when needed as you worked a bank holiday that you are not met to work even through you paid for it.
ACAS is a help line that can be accessed fro advise only I would recommend that you join a union - Unison Unite for example and then if you ever get an issue you can give them a call ask for more advise - also one last thing on this matter, ask for the company hand book as this should be clear
unfortunately you work for an employer that works strictly by the rule book. the holidays include 2 for easter, either good friday and easter sunday or easter sunday and easter monday. easter monday is not a bank holiday, it is only given by some companies out of the goodness of their heart. it is not compulsory. the same goes for christmas and boxing day , the fact that they might fall on a sunday is neither here or there. the other holidays are mayday. late spring, august and new years day. in total 8 days. i know this is not what you wanted to hear but that is life for you, technically if you checked it out with ACAS you would find that they don't technically have to pay you for any of these holidays.
